Project summary

The sites of Diogué and Carabanne, located on either side of the Casamance River mouth, are subject to significant risks of submersion and erosion. The local population is relatively small, and the local economy is dominated by fishing and agriculture. The natural environments of the area are exceptional and represent a huge capital for the local populations. The gradual degradation of this ecosystem poses a direct threat to local communities and represents an opportunity cost in terms of developing eco-tourism. The study team’s mission is to assess natural risks and their evolution under the influence of climate change, propose adaptation strategies, and evaluate their effectiveness and efficiency.
