Project summary
The study aims to conduct an assessment and critical analysis, both nationally and internationally, of the regulations and practices related to sediment dredging immersion. It also focuses on identifying the most relevant available scientific methods for setting prohibition thresholds, proposing different scenarios, conducting environmental and economic impact assessments of these scenarios, and engaging stakeholders in a consultation process based on the preferred scenario, including potential adjustments.
Tasks carried out by Ecoresil
Development and application of a simulation model for different threshold modification scenarios
Estimation of variations in the allocation of sediment volumes (immersion, onshore management, treatment, valorization)
Estimation of the technical and economic consequences for the involved stakeholders (port authorities, treatment centers, carriers)
Estimation of the implications in terms of carbon emissions
